Alison Jones, Managing Director of Volkswagen UK

Alison Jones has been the director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars for more than two years.

Mrs Jones knows Volkswagen well, having worked in the brand for 12 of her 20 years to date with the Volkswagen Group. She has developed a deep understanding of the Volkswagen network, brand, numbers and customers through a variety of roles, including management and head-of positions in Retailer Support, Aftersales and Customer Service, as well as a stint overseeing finances as Brand Controller.

In 2010 she drove the transformation of the Volkswagen Group UK Customer Services Centre in Leeds, followed by a move to Audi as Head of Operations, a role that included New and Used Car Sales, Factory Planning and Network Development.

Jones was promoted to the Volkswagen Group UK Board of Management in 2012 as Director of Customer Quality, and then moved on to set up the Group Aftersales and Customer Quality (GACQ) function two years later.

Bill Dobie, Owner of Dobies Cumbria   

Dobies is an independent family owned and run business that has been serving the motoring needs of their customers for over 40-years. Dobies represent Peugeot and Vauxhall, have a successful used car business and aftersales operation.

Bill started out as Management Accountant with United Biscuits, McVitie’s being one of many brands he worked on, before departing aged 26 to start his own business. In addition to the car operations, a significant asset is a fully authorised FCA Finance company totally self-funded by previous years’ profits with a portfolio of retail lending and cross section of commercial lending.

Rebecca Clark, Manufacturer & Agency Director, Auto Trader


Since joining Auto Trader in 2002, Rebecca has held many senior roles across most commercial areas of the business, especially sales, which has enabled her to develop outstanding relationships within the industry.

Rebecca is now jointly responsible for leading the UK car manufacturer accounts and national advertising agencies, tasked with delivering commercial value and growth. Prior to joining Auto Trader, Rebecca worked for United Business Media and has an MA in Marketing Management from Manchester Business School.

Al Clarke, Programme Chairman

Al has held senior executive roles with Ferrari, Maserati and the SMMT. Al started his career as a journalist and presenter with a decade working for the BBC and in commercial radio.

He has a particular interest in the application of digital technology and connected car services in the automotive industry and regularly speaks at, and chairs events on, these issues.
